WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The No. 14 Rutgers-Newark men's volleyball team earned a Continental Volleyball Conference victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating Wilkes University in straight sets (25-15, 25-16, 25-22).

The Scarlet Raiders controlled the match from the start, jumping out to an early advantage in the opening set and cruising to a 25-15 win. Rutgers-Newark carried that momentum into the second set, continuing to pressure Wilkes offensively and defensively to take the frame 25-16 and a 2-0 lead in the match.

Wilkes made things more competitive in the third set, but Rutgers-Newark held off the Colonels late to complete the sweep with a 25-22 victory.

Michael Suarez led the Scarlet Raiders offensively with 10 kills while adding five service aces. Massimo Roco added seven kills while hitting an efficient .556 for the match.

Duncan Sturt orchestrated the Scarlet Raider offense with 26 assists while adding four kills of his own.

The Scarlet Raiders will return home Wednesday for another CVC matchup with Kean.
