Scarlet Raiders Compete at Battle of Madison

MADISON, N.J. – The Rutgers-Newark track and field teams delivered a full slate of performances at the Battle of Madison, highlighted by strong showings in both track and field events on the men's and women's sides.

On the men's side, Shareek Prophet led off in the sprints with a 7th-place finish in the 100m, crossing the line in 11.27. Ralph Atorkui added another 7th-place finish in the 200m with a time of 23.12. In the 400m, Kyle Rolffot placed 12th (54.94), followed by Daniel Cortez in 14th (56.76). Rolffot also competed in the 800m, finishing 8th in 2:08.67.

In distance action, Carlos Gonzales Delgado secured 9th place in the 1500m with a time of 4:56.41.

The field events saw standout performances from Azor Chareyre, who placed 2nd in the javelin throw with a mark of 44.72m. He also contributed across multiple events, finishing 6th in the discus (38.23m) and 7th in the shot put (11.30m). Alberto Romero added marks of 30.20m in the javelin (11th) and 22.82m in the discus (14th).

Babacar Halsey had a strong day in the jumps, placing 4th in the triple jump (12.18m) and 9th in the long jump (5.95m). Abdullah Abdul-Mujeeb also competed in the long jump, finishing 12th with a mark of 5.40m.

On the women's side, Chidimma Igwe paced the Scarlet Raiders in the sprints, placing 3rd in the 100m (12.63) and 5th in the 200m (26.05). Arianna Allen (30.19) and Abisola Oterunbi (31.81) also recorded top-20 finishes in the 200m.

Daisy Lopez posted an 11th-place finish in the 400m (1:14.29), while Angelyna Rodriguez took 7th in the 1500m with a time of 6:27.44.

Fejiro Akiri delivered one of the top performances of the meet, winning both the hammer throw (43.34m) and shot put (13.10m), with her shot put mark ranking No. 27 in NCAA Division III this season. She also placed 3rd in the discus with a season-best throw of 30.87m. Shanil Auguste followed closely in the hammer throw, finishing 2nd with a mark of 41.62m, and added a 3rd-place finish in the shot put (12.36m), which ranks No. 77 in Division III.

Christine Pierre-Louis placed 14th in the discus (17.89m). In the jumps, Igwe added a 6th-place finish in the long jump (4.33m), while Suhaylah Muhammad placed 9th with a mark of 3.97m.
