NEWARK, N.J. – The Rutgers-Newark men's volleyball team earned strong recognition from the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC), with four Scarlet Raiders named to the All-CVC Second Team, as Aleks Kolodziej, Michael Suarez, Duncan Sturt, and Massimo Roco, were all honored for their standout performances during the 2026 season.
Kolodziej proved to be a do-it-all presence for Rutgers-Newark, appearing in 82 sets while totaling 266.5 points on 209 kills. He led the team defensively with 144 digs, while also contributing 37 total blocks and 36 service aces, showcasing his all-around impact on both sides of the ball.
Suarez led the team offensively, recording a team-high 332 points on 286 kills. He also contributed 117 digs and 25 total blocks. Among conference leaders, Suarez ranked second in kills per set (3.3), third in total kills, and sixth in total points, cementing his role as one of the top attackers in the CVC.
Freshman setter Sturt orchestrated the Scarlet Raider offense with precision, dishing out 933 assists on the season, good for third in the conference while leading the CVC with 10.08 assists per set. In addition to directing the offense, he added 54 kills and 136 digs, highlighting his versatility in his first collegiate campaign.
Roco was a force at the net across 81 sets, finishing the season with 204.5 points behind 150 kills and 51 total blocks. He posted a team-best .335 hitting percentage, which ranked sixth in the CVC, establishing himself as one of the conference's most efficient attackers.
