PROFILE OF THE WEEK
CAREER: Four-year letterwinner for Scarlet Raider teams which amassed a 68-45 record with three NJAC Tournament appearances, three ECAC Metro Championship Playoff berths and an NCAA Tournament bid… averaged 3.3 points while totaling 104 assists in 80 career appearances.
SENIOR (2009-10): A top reserve guard for the Raiders’ first-ever NCAA Tournament team which went 20-8… averaged 3.9 points per game while playing in all 28 games… knocked down 17 of 43 3-point attempts (39.5%)… chipped in 32 assists, 27 steals and 27 rebounds… led Raiders in scoring with a career-high 20 points, hitting eight of 10 shots from the floor and three of four from beyond the arc, in an 86-65 win over York NY (12/9/09)… hit both treys on his way to eight points with two assists and two steals in 61-44 win over Kean (2/20/10) in the NJAC Tournament opening round… hit all three field goals tries, including both 3-point attempts to collect nine points and four assists in an 89-33 victory over Berkeley College (12/15/09)…
JUNIOR (2008-09): Started in 14 games, averaging 3.9 points and 2.1 assists, for the 17-13 Scarlet Raiders who reached the NJAC Championship title game for the first time in program history... ranked third on the team in assists (58) while adding 25 steals... opened the season with 15 points and a career-high seven assists in a win over Medgar Evers (11/15/08) in the John K. Adams Tip-Off Classic... followed that performance with a 7-point, 5-assist effort in the title game victory over Fredonia State (11/16/08)... had 17 multiple-assist games including a 5-assist outing in a loss to Thomas More (11/22/08)... had six multiple-steal games including back-to-back 3-steal efforts against Rutgers-Camden (1/10/09) and Montclair State (1/14/09)... also had two blocked shots in 62-61 loss at Montclair State (1/14/09).
SOPHOMORE (2007-08): Played in 18 games, earning three starting nods... netted seven points in an 82-68 win over Hunter (12/30/07)... hit both 3-point attempts for six points in a 71-42 victory over John Jay (12/1/07)... pulled down a career-high four rebounds in a 60-59 win over Rowan (1/12/08)... had four assists to go along with five points in a 63-59 win over York NY (12/12/07).
FRESHMAN (2006-07): Saw limited action, playing in six games for the 18-11 Raiders… had a blocked shot against Connecticut College (11/18/07) in the John K. Adams Tip-Off Classic.
HIGH SCHOOL: Three-year letterwinner at neighboring St. Benedict’s Prep under head coach Danny Hurley... helped Gray Bees to national prep title as a senior as well as back-to-back New Jersey Prep championships... St. Benedict’s had a combined record of 91-3 during his three varsity seasons.
PERSONAL: Half brother of senior forward Ryan Gillens.
