SOPHOMORE (2006-07): 2007 All-Met and NABC All-Atlantic District second team pick and a first-team All-NJAC guard after leading the Raiders to an 18-11 record with team-leading averages of 17.9 points and 2.3 steals per game… twice named NJAC Player of the Week… knocked down 81 3-point jumpers (2.79 per game) to rank second in the NJAC… ranked third in the league in both scoring and steals average… led team in points (518), steals (67) and field goals (180)… capped the season with a career-high 40-point explosion in an 82-72 loss at NYU (3/2/07) in the ECAC Metro semifinals in which he poured in a school-record nine 3-pointers… netted double-digit points in 24 of 29 games, reaching the 20-point plateau a dozen times… netted 30 points on the strength of 6-for-11 shooting from beyond the arc in a heart-breaking 91-90 loss at Ramapo (1/10/07)… five days apart, he had a career-high six steals to go along with 23 points in a 73-66 win at NYC Tech (1/15/07) followed by a 65-61 loss at Rutgers-Camden (1/20/07)… poured in 24 points with seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in a league-opening 75-68 victory at Richard Stockton (12/2/06)… tallied 25 points in an 80-74 win over York (11/29/06)… had 19 multiple-steal games, getting at least one steal in all but two games… dished out a season-high five assists to go along with 18 points in a 75-66 win over CCNY (11/21/06)… sank a 3-point jumper in all but four games, hitting for multiple treys in 20 games… had six 3-points against York (11/29/06), Ramapo (1/10/07), Kean (2/3/07) and William Paterson (2/15/07)… made a solid 70.0 percent of his free throws (77-110), paced by a 9-for-9 effort at Rutgers-Camden (1/20/07)… had multiple assists in 16 games, ranking third on the squad with 52 total assists.
FRESHMAN (2005-06): 2006 NJAC Co-Rookie of the Year... earned the first two NJAC Rookie of the Week awards of the season... led Scarlet Raiders with 46 3-point baskets and 40 steals while averaging 11.9 points, 1.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game... made 69.8% (44-63) of his free throws... biggest shot was the buzzer-beating, 21-foot jumper that got Raiders into overtime in a 46-38 opening round win at TCNJ (2/21/06) in the NJAC Tournament... had three 20-point outings topped by a 23-point, 3-assist game against Richard Stockton (1/4/06)... posted career-highs of six assists and five steals to go along with 13 points and five rebounds at New Jersey City (11/30/05)... also had five steals in a 22-point outburst against Medgar Evers (1/16/06)... netted 20 points against Rowan (1/16/06) to register back-to-back 20-point nights... pulled down a career-high seven rebounds to go along with 14 points, three assists and two steals versus New Jersey City (1/25/06)... made four 3-pointers each time he play at NJAC Champion William Paterson (12/7/05, 2/23/06)... notched 19 points, hitting seven of 11 shots from the floor, in the NJAC Tournament semifinal loss to WPU.
HIGH SCHOOL: All-state and All-Essex County guard at University HS, which is located just blocks from the Rutgers-Newark campus... 4-year letterwinner who scored over 1,500 points... helped the Phoenix to a 19-6 record as a senior under head coach Ras Baraka.
PERSONAL: Barnes is an aspiring rapper known as Chadd “B” who performed two of his hip-hop numbers during the annual 2006 Raider Madness celebration... the oldest of six siblings... plans to major in criminal justice at Rutgers-Newark.
