Kevin Santos and
Brian Barbera got singles wins and teamed for a doubles victory to help Rutgers-Newark down Brooklyn College, 6-3, despite the absence of three regulars.

The Scarlet Raiders (5-3) got key wins from freshman
Juan Garcia on the fourth flight in his first singles competition and from sophomore
Nate Kijpatanasilp on the No. 6 court in just his second single match of the season. Regular starters
Lam Nguyen,
Arjun Sapra and
Priyen Patel were absent, forcing Garcia, Kijpatanasilp and freshman
Franklin Osakwe into the lineup.
It was the fourth straight win for the Raiders who started the season by losing three of four matches.
Santos rolled to a 6-4, 6-2 win over
Elliot Hirsch at top-flight singles while Barbera notched a 6-3, 6-4 decision over
Kristoffer Flores on the No. 5 court. The duo teamed for an 8-4 top-flight doubles win over Hirsch and
Jacques Esses.
Garcia stopped the Bridges'
Clark Jean-Baptiste, 7-5, 6-4, while Kijpatanasilp stopped
Vesna Tan, 5-7, 6-1, 10-6 (pro set) to give the Raiders a 4-2 edge in singles play.
Freshman
Garfar Ayinde and
Kashyap Patel downed Jean-Baptiste and Flores, 9-7, on the No. 3 doubles court.
Rutgers-Newark travels to Western Connecticut State on Monday for a 4:30 p.m. match before returning to The Golden Dome Courts for a season-ending showdown against Ramapo on Wednesday at 4 o'clock.
