NEWARK, NJ – Richard Stockton powered past Rutgers-Newark, 9-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference women's tennis match on The Golden Dome Courts.

The Ospreys (3-0, NJAC 1-0) notched their fourth straight win over the Scarlet Raiders (0-5, NJAC 0-2) since a 5-4 Rutgers-Newark upset in 2005. RSC has won 42 of 43 individual and doubles contests since that loss in Newark. 

Junior Kelly Fitzsimmons and freshman Ashley Lawrence were the only Raiders to extend their matches past two sets.  Fitzsimmons fell to Stockton's Steph Krupa, 10-6, in a tie-breaking pro-set after the two split the first sets, 6-2, 4-6. On the top-flight, Lawrence lost a 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 battled against Christy Alexander.

The Raiders are at Brooklyn College on Friday at 4p.m. before taking on Baruch College at the U.S. Tennis Center in Flushing, Queens, on Saturday at 5 o'clock.
