Jeff Zornig had 41 assists to fuel a Rutgers-Newark attack which hit .432 while adding a match-high six aces as the Scarlet Raiders downed neighborhood rival NJIT, 3-0, in an EIVA Hay match in The Golden Dome.

Zornig added two kills and two assisted blocks to his night as the Raiders (2-9, EIVA Hay 2-0) snapped a 7-match losing streak with the win over the Highlanders (1-9, EIVA Hay 1-3). Set scores were 30-22, 30-24, 30-19.
Junior right side
Dane Mulligan netted a match-high 15.5 points with 13 kills on .421 hitting, two aces and an assisted block while coming up with a match-high five digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Marcin Midura hit .571 with 14 kills and just two errors on 21 swings. Sophomore outside hitter
Eduardo Hernandez hit .462 with nine kills, delivered a pair of aces and got in on two blocks.
The Highlanders got 10 kills and two assisted blocks from freshman outside hitter Kevin Van Oss while senior outside hitter Charles Bell tallied eight points on six kills, an ace and two assisted blocks. Sophomore right side Adam Gustafson and freshman outside hitter Christian Puszies chipped in six kills apiece for NJIT.
NJIT never got its attack on track, hitting .133 (30 kills, 20 errors, 75 attacks) for the night while Rutgers-Newark hit .400 in set one, .333 in the second frame and a torrid .583 in the finale.
Rutgers-Newark hosts Juniata on Friday at 7 p.m. before travelling to Harvard on Saturday for another EIVA Hay battle. NJIT now has a week to regroup before hosting the Scarlet Raiders in Fleischer Gym on March 2 at 7 p.m.
