NEWARK, NJ – Senior middle hitter
Jon Keller paced Rutgers-Newark with 11 kills and a pair of assisted blocks, but Ball State snapped the Scarlet Raiders' six-match winning streak with a 3-0 decision in The Golden Dome.

Cardinal junior outside attacker Lee Meyer pounded down a match-high 14 kills as Ball State (12-7) notched a 30-25, 30-27, 30-28 victory.

Marcin Midura came up with eight kills and three assisted blocks.
Meyer hit .357 (14 kills, 4 errors, 28 attacks) and junior middle attacker J.D. Gasparovic put down eight kills on just 11 swings with one error (.636) to pace the Cardinals' attack. Senior setter Ethan Pheister notched 32 assists, two aces and six digs for Ball State (12-7) while senior libero Billy Ebel came up with a match-high nine digs.
Meyer posted five kills in the opening set as the Cardinals jumped out to an 18-7 lead before the Raiders whittled the deficit to 27-24 on a kill by freshman middle hitter
Mark Kochan. But a kill by freshman outside attacker Larry Wrather followed by a Rutgers-Newark attack error pushed the lead back to five points.
There were 14 ties and three lead changes in the second frame before Ball State took a 27-25 lead on three consecutive Raider attack errors. Gasparovic finished the set with a kill.
There were 10 lead changes and 18 ties in the final set before a Gasparovic kill and a Pheister service ace broke a 28-all deadlock and ended the evening. Keller had five kills on seven swings in the set as Rutgers-Newark (7-10) hit .263, but Meyer had six kills to pace the Cardinals who committed two fewer attack errors and two fewer service errors in the final frame.
Rutgers-Newark travels to Sacred Heart on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. EIVA Hay battle.
