MAHWAH, NJ – Rutgers-Newark junior opposite Austin Pappas had game highs of 12 kills and seven aces in a 3-0 win over Ramapo College in the Bradley Center. Game scores were 25-23, 25-13, 25-22.

The Scarlet Raiders (15-8) hit .510 (32 kills, 6 errors, 51 attacks) against the Roadrunners (17-11) behind the setting of seniors Liran Shapiro and Jeff Zornig. Shapiro posted 16 assists in two games while Zornig notched eight in one.

Pappas roped a career-high seven aces while hitting .588 (12-2.17) while junior opposite Kenneth de Groh added seven kills, two aces and two assisted blocks for 10 points. Sophomore middle hitter Brett Pickens and junior outside hitter Marcin Midura each had five kills on seven swings with Pickens adding two assisted blocks.

Junior outside hitter Paul Konopacki paced Ramapo on Senior Night with seven kills and a pair of assisted blocks.

Rutgers-Newark visits Sacred Heart on Saturday at 2 p.m. for a non-conference match before getting a full week to prepare for their EIVA Tait final regular-season battle at Springfield College.

The Raiders have already locked up a home game for the EIVA Championship Tournament opening round on April 23 against an opponent to be determined.
