Freshman righthander Drastal gave up just one earned run in the 5-0 opening game loss while Riscinti gave up just six hits in the 4-0 nightcap loss in the NJAC season opener for both teams.
In game one, sophomore first baseman
Monica Bagan, freshman shortstop
Carrie Wan and Drastal each had their second double of the season against freshman pitcher Kelly Hardman, but the Raiders totaled just five hits. Bagan also had a single while Zelaya opened the game with a single. Hardman struck out five and walked no one.
Drastal, who struck out one and walked no one, kept the Raiders close until the fifth inning when four hits and two errors allowed TCNJ (15-4, NJAC 2-0) to push across four unearned runs.
Senior rightfielder Colleen Crawley went three for three to pace an 11-hit Lions attack against Drastal (1-4).
In game two, Raider sophomore leftfielder
Nicole Odell singled down the leftfield line with one out in the bottom of the sixth to break up a no-hit bid by freshman Alex Carisone. Carisone (4-2) struck out six and issued a two-out walk to freshman designated player
Tiara Santi in the fifth.
The Lions scored all of their runs in the first two innings on five hits and four walks before Riscinti (3-5) settled down to limit TCNJ to just one base hit over the final five innings.
Rutgers-Newark travels to defending NJAC champion Kean University on Tuesday at 3 p.m. for another league doubleheader.
