MAHWAH, NJ – Rutgers-Newark put four players in double figures but unbeaten Ramapo capitalized on Scarlet Raider turnovers for a 79-52 New Jersey Athletic Conference win in the Bradley Center.
Senior forward
Fateen Belfield came off the bench to connect on five of eight shots from the floor on his way to a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, but the Roadrunners (7-0, NJAC 6-0), who are ranked 11th in the latest D3hoops.com poll, converted 20 Raider turnovers into 30 points to spell the difference.

Ramapo got double-doubles from senior forward Elgin Brown with 22 points and 11 rebounds and senior guard Garret Thiel with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Roadrunners forged a 44-32 advantage on the boards.
The Roadrunners led wire-to-wire, but the Raiders hung close for most of the first period. A jump shot by Garcia trimmed the deficit to 21-18 with 5:30 left in the opening period before Ramapo reeled off nine straight points to take charge of the contest. The hosts led 34-23 at the half.
A jump shot by Belfield followed by a pair of free throws by Garcia sliced the Ramapo lead to 38-32 with 16:42 left, but the Roadrunners scored eight unanswered points to push the margin back to double digits. The Raiders never got closer than eight points as Ramapo pulled away to lead by their biggest margin at the final horn.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak by the Raiders and denied them a share of the NJAC lead with the Roadrunners.
Rutgers-Newark visits Neumann on Saturday at 2 p.m. for a non-conference game before breaking for fall semester exams.
