NEW YORK – Rutgers-Newark senior Michelle Kvitnitsky and junior Yara Elsekhely posted singles wins but Baruch College took a 6-3 win at the U.S. National Tennis Center in Flushing, Queens.
Kvitnitsky downed sophomore Amandine Le Goupil-Maier, 6-1, 6-2, on the No. 2 single court while Elsekhely turned back senior Lisa Kurner, 6-4, 6-2, on the third flight. Both Kvitnitsky and Elsekhely improved to 5-4 in singles play on the season.
In doubles, Seniors Dhaneya Kumar and Michelle Nagamine took the second flight over Kurner and senior Amanda Naraine, 8-1.
Nagamine was edge by Naraine, 6-2, 4-6, 12-10, on the No. 4 singles court in the longest match of the day.
Rutgers-Newark (3-6, NJAC 0-5) wraps up its New Jersey Athletic Conference season on Monday by hosting William Paterson at 6 p.m. on The Golden Dome Courts.
