CHEYNEY, PA – Five Rutgers-Newark runners finished in the top seven as the Scarlet Raiders rolled to a team victory in the Northern Grey Classic on the campus of Cheyney University.

Senior Chris Happel (27:40.84), freshman Chris Burrows (27:51.47), sophomore Oscar Medina (29:26.92) and junior Michael Agyei (29:59.41) finished second through fifth for the Raiders before senior Akin Shoyoye (30:38.47) rounded out the team scoring by finishing seven in a field of 32 runners on the 8-kilometer course.

Happel's time was a personal best and the eighth fastest 8-kilometer time in the R-N record book.

It marked the third team victory in as many trips to the Philadelphia area by Rutgers-Newark. The Raiders won the season-opening Brandywine Invitational in Media, PA, on Sept. 14 and added the Belmont Classic crown last Saturday.

Also competing for the Raiders were freshman Rehtul Jordan (14th, 31:39.58), sophomores Dennis Willis Jr. (15th, 32:07.14) and Donnie House (16th, 32:56.82), and juniors Sean Woodley (23rd, 36:58.16) and Elyon Obamedo (27th, 39:19.46).

Rutgers-Newark returns to Philadelphia on Saturday to compete in the Jack Saint Clair Meet.
