Box Score PRINCETON, NJ – Rutgers-Newark got off to a tough start in Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association play, falling to Princeton, 3-0, in Dillon Gym.

Sophomore
Manuel Felipez led the Scarlet Raiders (2-2, EIVA 0-1) with seven kills as the Tigers (2-2, EIVA 1-1) limited the visitors to just 14 kills in the 25-18, 25-9, 25-16 match. Felipez is the only non-freshman on the Raider squad which is playing its first season without a scholarship player in the EIVA which features all NCAA Division I schools. The Raiders are transitioning to NCAA Division III status.

Colin Ferguson and middle hitter
Cody Chidsey tallied three points apiece for the Raiders. McCandless had 10 assists, two kills and two assisted blocks while Ferguson had a kill and both of Rutgers-Newark's service aces. Chidsey had two kills and two assisted blocks.
Sophomore middle blocker Will Siroky paced the balanced Princeton attack with 13.5 points. He hammered down eight kills with just one error on nine swings to hit .778 and help the Tigers produced a .338 hitting percentage. Siroky posted four of Princeton's seven aces and got in on three blocks.
Sophomore outside hitter Cody Kessel had a match-high 10 kills while junior outside hitter Pat Schwagler added nine kills, an ace and two assisted blocks.
Rutgers-Newark travels to EIVA foe George Mason on Friday for a 7 p.m. match before taking on Eastern Mennonite in Harrisonburg, VA, on Saturday at 11 a.m.
