Scarlet Raiders Win Fourth In A Row; Down York NY, 6-3

NEWARK, NJ – Rutgers-Newark downed York NY, 6-3, in its home finale on The Golden Dome Courts to post its fourth consecutive win.

Senior Elijah Kim and freshman Benjamin Lioue notched singles victories and also helped the Scarlet Raiders (5-6) win two of three doubles matches against the Cardinals (4-8).

Sophomore Derence Tejero stopped Iheanyi Agbor, 6-2, 7-6 (7-1), on the No. 2 singles court while freshman Youssef Rizk, Kim And Lioue rolled to wins on the bottom three singles flights.

In doubles, Kim teamed with senior William Cheung for an 8-1 win over Gary Reynoso and Trevon Phillips on the No. 2 court while Lioue and Rajan Mandania battled past Anthony Omoragbon and Michael Benavidez, 8-6, on the third flight.

Rutgers-Newark, which lost its first five matches of the season, can post a .500 record with a win at Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
