Ramapo Stops Scarlet Raiders In NJAC Play

NEWARK, NJ – Rutgers-Newark was stopped by Ramapo College, 9-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match on The Golden Dome Courts.

Senior Michelle Nagamine bounced back from a 6-2 loss in the first set to level her match against Katrina Biss with a 6-4 second set on the No. 4 singles court, but she fell 10-8 in the tie-breaker third set.  No other match went beyond two sets as the Roadrunners (3-0, NJAC 3-0) posted their third straight league victory.

Junior Yara Elsekhely fell, 8-5, in a super tie-breaker match to Micala Demchak on the No. 3 singles court in the Scarlet Raiders' next best chance for a break through win.

In doubles, senior Michelle Kvitnitsky and Elsekhely lost an 8-5 decision to Carly Agrifolio and Ivy Schuckman on the top-flight court while senior Dhaneya Kumar and Nagamine were downed, 8-4, by Sara Luby and Demchak on the No. 2 court.

Rutgers-Newark (1-2, NJAC 0-2) plays at York NY on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
