NEWARK, N.J. (October 1, 2015) – Ramapo College defeated Rutgers University-Newark by a score of 9-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) women's tennis match Thursday evening. The contest began on The Golden Dome Courts but was moved to indoor courts at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) due to rain.
The Scarlet Raiders fall to 0-7 overall and 0-5 in the NJAC. Ramapo improves to 3-1 in the conference and 6-1 overall.
Ramapo earned an 8-0 win in No. 1 doubles play, with the Raiders picking up a game at No. 2 and No. 3. Juniors
Kimberly Gonzalez and
Kesha Patel played second for Rutgers-Newark with freshmen
Emanuellie Romelus and classmate
Kallah Masudi playing No. 3.
All the singles action was played like doubles – pro-sets to eight – due to the weather delay and change in venue. The Roadrunners won 8-0 at Nos. 1, 4 and 6, with freshman
Urvi Shah taking a game at No. 2, senior captain
Jamie Lee Buhain taking a game at No. 3 and Patel doing the same in the fifth flight.
