Box Score ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Junior middle hitter
Cody Chidsey was named the MVP of the Bard Raptor Tournament as Rutgers University-Newark ran its winning streak to 10 matches with a 3-0 win over the City College of New York. Games scores were 25-11, 25-10, 25-10 in the Stevenson Center.
Chidsey was unstoppable for the second straight day in the event, hitting .684 with a match-high 13 kills on 19 swings without an error as the Scarlet Raiders (10-5, CVC 4-0) remained unbeaten since January 31. During the streak, Rutgers-Newark has dropped just two of 32 games.

Pedro Trevino went to his bench early and often as the Raiders hit a blistering .474 (43 kills, 7 errors, 76 attacks) behind 33 assists from junior setter
Kevin McCandless who joined Chidsey on the all-tournament team. Rutgers-Newark was awarded the team championship.
Sophomore middle hitter
Nick Kuti pounded down eight kills without an error on nine attacks to hit .889. He also chipped in two of the Raiders' six aces and got in on a block to finish with 10.5 points. Junior opposite
Travis Mintzer posted seven kills and a pair of blocking assists while sophomore outside hitter
Jack Fredricks contributed seven kills on .545 hitting (7-1-11) and came up with six digs. Freshman outside hitter
Justin Sandy tallied three kills and three aces in one game while junior libero
Nick Collins notched eight digs.
Senior outside hitter Anthony Reyes paced the Beavers (2-11) with 10 kills and a blocking assist as the Raiders limited CCNY to just 22 kills on .167 hitting.
For the three matches in the tournament, Chidsey hit an incredible .762 with 33 kills and only one error in 42 attacks. The team hit .441 (118-28-204) behind 98 assists by McCandless.
Rutgers-Newark gets a chance to make some noise on Tuesday when they travel to Huntingdon, Pa., to take on No. 4 nationally-ranked Juniata (12-2, CVC 4-0) in a Continental Volleyball Conference showdown. The Eagles, the preseason favorite to win the NCAA D-III Championship, have lost only to No. 1 Stevens and No. 2 Kean this season and are riding a 4-match winning streak – all against CVC opponents – into the battle.
Next Saturday, the Raiders host Stevens and No. 10 Baruch (5-2) in a tri-match in The Golden Dome Arena. Rutgers-Newark plays Stevens in the 10 a.m. opener with the Stevens versus Baruch match-up at noon. The Raiders take on Baruch at 2 p.m. to end the day.
