NEWARK, N.J. (January 12, 2016) – On the eve of a key New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) showdown inside The Golden Dome Arena against rival Ramapo College, the Rutgers University-Newark men's basketball team finds itself among conference and national statistical leaders.
Rutgers-Newark is coming off a pair of conference wins last week, defeating Rutgers University-Camden in 'The Dome' and going on the road to defeat NJAC rival William Paterson University.

The Scarlet Raiders will bring a record of 10-4 overall and 5-2 in the conference into Wednesday's 8 p.m. tilt against the Roadrunners who are also 5-2 in the NJAC (9-5 overall). Both teams trail New Jersey City University (5-1) by one game in the conference standings and are one game up on Stockton University and The College of New Jersey (4-3).
Nationally, the Scarlet Raiders are 18th in blocked shots per game (5.1), 19th in field-goal percentage defense (38.6 percent) and No. 48 in scoring defense (65.9), cracking the top-50 in three different categories.

Jordan McDaniel is 30th nationally in total points with 284, while McDaniel and senior guard
John Snow are tied for 31st in free-throw attempts (95). McDaniel is 35th in made field goals (98) and his 68 made foul shots are just inside the top-50 at No. 49.
Rutgers-Newark paces the NJAC in an amazing seven different statistical ranks; winning percentage (.714), total blocks (72), three-point field-goal percentage defense (29.8 percent), scoring margin (plus-7.4), overall field-goal percentage defense (38.6 percent), field-goal percentage (46.5 percent) and blocked shots per game (5.1).

Dave Lunsford are two-three in the conference in blocked shots per game and total blocks (1.43, 1.36; 20, 19), with McDaniel's 51.9 percent conversion rate from the field checking in second. Snow and McDaniel are tied for second in the NJAC in free-throw attempts and McDaniel is third in made foul shots and points per game (20.3). McDaniel paces the conference in minutes (459), made field goals and total points, sitting third in the league in total rebounds with an even 100.
