MAHWAH, N.J. (September 23, 2016) – Ramapo College topped Rutgers University-Newark by a score of 8-1 Friday evening in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match on the Athletic Center Courts in Mahwah.
Ramapo improves to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the NJAC, while the Scarlet Raiders move to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the league. R-N returns to action next Friday at Western Connecticut State University in a non-conference showdown in Danbury, Conn.
"We were playing short-handed today, but our ladies really fought hard playing a little out of position," said Head Coach
Tom Battaglia. "Despite the tough challenge, they didn't back down and I was definitely happy to see that."
Rutgers-Newark picked up four games out of the first and third doubles slot, as the duos of

Nicole Murray fell by 8-4 finals.
The Scarlet Raider women's point came from
Bryanna Thaxton who rolled 6-4, 6-0 out of the third slot, picking up 12 of the 22 game wins they earned in singles play.
Karpinski battled at No. 2, winning four games, and
Julibeth Hernandez won five in what ended up being an 8-5 pro-set loss out of the fifth slot.
