NEWARK, N.J. (March 24, 2018) – The Rutgers University-Newark men's volleyball team will host a tri-match Saturday in The Golden Dome beginning at 2 p.m. It will be the team's first action since upsetting 12th-ranked Mount Saint Joseph on March 13, and it will be R-N's first appearance in front of its home crowd since March 3.
The day will begin with a match against Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) foe Eastern Mennonite University (2 p.m.) and it will end with a non-league showdown against Mount Saint Vincent (6 p.m.) EMU and MSV will do battle at 4 p.m.
The Scarlet Raiders boast an overall record of 14-4 and are 5-2 in CVC play. The top three teams in each division of the CVC will make the conference tournament and R-N is currently No. 2 in the East, one match behind Kean University. Eastern Mennonite will check in at 18-8 overall and is currently No. 1 in the CVC West at 8-2.

Corey Pieper was named the
CVC and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Week after a ridiculous 52 kills in two matches last week, putting down 26 in a five-set loss to Wittenberg and hammering home 26 more in the sweep of 12th-ranked Mount St. Joseph in Cincy.
The Scarlet Raiders currently check in second nationally in opponent hitting percentage, fifth in winning percentage, sixth in kills per set, sixth in assists per set and eighth in hitting percentage.

Jalen Sorrell's .433 hitting percentage is seventh in the nation, while Pieper's 3.49 kills per set have him 14th. Pieper is 17th in points per set (4.08), while sophomore libero
Jake Connors is No. 16 nationally in digs per set (2.96).
