NEWARK, N.J. (April 7, 2018) – The Rutgers University-Newark men's tennis team was blanked by visiting Ramapo College in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener for both schools.

Rutgers-Newark falls to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in the league, while Ramapo improves to 7-3 overall and 1-0 the GNAC. Newark will look to get back into the win columnÂ
Friday night as it wraps up its five-match homestand against John Jay College at 5 p.m.

"We knew coming in that Ramapo was an excellent opponent," said Head Coach
Andres Bustani. "We went into today really focused on going out and playing to win, making sure they beat us and we weren't giving anything away. I am proud of the way everyone competed, and some of the scores did not reflect how well we played."

The Scarlet Raiders won two games at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, and veteran
Richard Nguyen led the Raiders in singles play, pocketing five games out of the fourth slot.

Brandon Davis picked up four games at No. 1 in a solid showing for the Scarlet Raiders as well.
