NEWARK, N.J. (September 22, 2018) – The Rutgers University-Newark women's tennis team lost to visiting Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham this afternoon on The Golden Dome Courts, 9-0. The Scarlet Raiders fall to 0-6 on the season while the Devils win their regular season opener.
Newark had a tough start, dropping all three doubles contests to begin the match. Junior

Bryanna Thaxton as well as the pairing of senior
Kallah Masudi and freshman
Sophia Raza suffered 8-3 losses at the top two spots while senior Melissa Saenz and rookie Natalie Hernandez fell 8-1.
In singles action, Thaxton had the closest set of the match but eventually fell in a tiebreak in the first set of her contest at no. 2 before losing the second set 6-0. Karpinski earned four games off her opponent but fell 6-3, 6-1 at the top position. The next four spots also fell in straight sets.
The Raiders return to action next Saturday when they host Lehman College in non-conference play at 1 p.m.
