STATEN ISLAND, NY | The Rutgers University-Newark men's track and field squad opened their season today at the FastTrack Season Opener at Ocean Breeze.
Jaheim Wimberly-Cole opened the meet with a 12th place finish in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.56. David Quarty took 26th by crossing the finish line in 8.03 with
Isaac Martinez finishing close behind in 30th (8.23). In the 200 meter dash, Cedric Augustin recorded the highest finish for the Scarlet Raiders in the event by taking 35th in 23.91. Wimberly-Cole also competed in the 200 meter dash and crossed in 24.36, good for 44th while Quarty finished in 26.63 with Martinez recording a time of 26.81.
Augustin was back in the 400 meter dash to take 20th (52.54) while
Rendell Amilcar wasn't far behind with a time of 53:01. Rauly Cordero and
Adeola Ajiboro recorded times of 56.10 and 56.33, respectively. Martinez rounded out the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.13.
Kraig Ruff represented the Scarlet Raiders in the 500 meter dash and crossed the finish line in 1:09.81 while Charles Livingstone and
Nicholas Branco finished in 1:18.61 and 1:24.47, respectively. In the 800 meter run, Emmanuel Boone grabbed 29th with a time of 2:13.63 while
Kevin Hernandez finished in 32nd (2:26.49).
In the mile run,
Maninder Singh scored a 14th place finish with a time of 4:32.22 while
Henry Moore finished in 4:37.61, good for 17th.
Adam Abushanab rounded out the racers for the Scarlet Raiders with a 23rd place finish and a time of 4:45.48. In the hurdles, Ruff took 15th with a time of 9.05 while Cordero finished in 22nd (9.73).
The quad of Amilcar, Ruff, Augustin and Cordero took 16th in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:42.34 while the second squad of
Justin Lee, Boone, Martinez, and
Anthony Nwosu finished 18th (3:53.65). In the 4x800 meter relay Moore, Singh, Abushanab, and Boone shined with a 3rd place finish (8:37.38).
Augustin tied for 14th in the long jump with a distance of 6.07m while Cordero took 34th with a leap of 5.40m. Timaul Williams participated in the shot put and recorded a toss of 12.24m, good for a 13th place finish.
Dylan Woods-Tomczak finished 22nd with a distance of 10.16m while Hunter Eldrige took 25th (9.73m). Williams gave the Scarlet Raiders a top-10 finish in the weight throw by taking 6th with a toss of 15.10m. Wood-Tomczak (19th, 11.08m),
Sean Deuer (24th, 9.98m),
Marcus Hinds (28th, 9.43m).
The Scarlet Raiders return to action on January 14, 2022 for the Spartan Invite.
