Zaleck & Nikishin Earn CVC & NJAC Accolades

MADISON, NJ | The Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) along with the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) has named Andrew Zaleck, CVC & NJAC Player of the Week for the opening weekend of play. Joining Zaleck in the awards is Matt Nikishin who picks up his first NJAC Defensive Player of the Week nod of his career.

Zaleck picked up his third CVC & fifth NJAC Player of the Week Award after a career afternoon. Zaleck picked up a slew of awards last season after bursting onto the scene and kept that torrid pace of play going into this season. He recorded a career-high 28 kills on a blistering .641 hit percentage against NJCU.

In his lone match of the week, Zaleck also added four block assists and a pair of service aces in the 3-1 win over New Jersey Athletic Conference opponents, NJCU. His 28-kill afternoon is tied for the second-most ever by a CVC player in a four-set match.

Nikishin earned the first accolade of his collegiate career with a solid defensive outing for the Scarlet Raiders. He played in all four sets and tallied a team-high 18 digs to keep their offense flowing. The 18 digs for Nikishin were a career-high and were integral to the Scarlet Raiders' success.

The Scarlet Raiders return to action Sunday, March 7 at 2:00 p.m. in Huntingdon, PA.
