PITMAN, NJ | The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) released its preseason poll today and Rutgers University-Newark was unanimously named the favorite.
The Scarlet Raiders have now earned two preseason favorites after being named CVC and NJAC no. 1. Returning to full strength, the Scarlet Raiders roster two All-Americans in Justin Tuohy and Andrew Zaleck who will look to continue their dominance.Â
Zaleck is a two-time NJAC Player of the Year and led the Scarlet Raiders (second in the NJAC) with 4.28 kills per set last season. Tuohy, the 2020 NJAC Co-Rookie of the Year and 2021 NJAC First Team pick, led the conference with nearly nine assists per set last season. Seasoned veteran Arvind Kumar, a 2021 NJAC First Team pick, also returns to the power-packed lineup. Kumar was second in the NJAC in digs last season (1.85 d/s) and third in kills (2.70 k/s).
