#10 Scarlet Raiders Men's Volleyball Topples Arcadia, 3-0

GLENSIDE, PA | Andrew Zaleck led the #10 men's volleyball squad with 14 kills as the Scarlet Raiders toppled Arcadia, 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-15) to improve to 3-0 on the year. The loss dropped Arcadia to 0-2 on the year. 

Zaleck nearly recorded more kills than the entire Arcadia side with 14 kills while Arcadia was held to 16 as a team. Daniel Quay continued his success at the net with four blocks while finishing second on the team with six kills. Justin Tuohy continued leading the way in the assist category with 27 while Matt Nikishin tallied a team-high six digs. 

The Scarlet Raiders opened the match with a .286 hit percentage and 11 kills while holding Arcadia to five kills. Rutgers-Newark powered their way to an 11-2 lead helmed by three kills and a service ace by Martin Chromulak. Rutgers-Newark held onto their lead and further stretched their lead after an 8-2 run to set up Tuohy for the set-winning kill.

Arcadia got their offense going in the second set, tallying a total of 20 points, however, the Scarlet Raiders used a 4-1 run at the end of the set to keep Arcadia from leveling the match at one. Arcadia benefited from an early lead, 7-3, but quickly saw it disappear as the Scarlet Raiders' offense was powered by Josh Ledesma and Zaleck to lift them past Arcadia. 

The Scarlet Raiders held Arcadia to a match-low four kills and a -.158 hit percentage in the third and final set. Conversely, Rutgers-Newark had their best set of the match, securing 15 kills while hitting .310. Similar to the opening set, the Scarlet Raiders took a large 14-5 lead, a lead they carried to secure the match as Arcadia was unable to overcome their deficit.

The Scarlet Raiders return to action on Saturday, January 28 as they will hit the road to take on Regis College and Lasell University in a tri-match at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
