Hartley & Amilcar Give Rutgers-Newark Top Finishes at NJAC Championships

STATEN ISLAND, NY | Jordan Hartley broke the Rutgers-Newark school record in the high jump and took the gold while Rendys Amilcar also earned gold in the triple jump at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships. As a team, the Scarlet Raiders placed 7th out of 9 teams.

Cedric Augustin took the top spot for the Scarlet Raiders in the 200m dash with a time of 24.48, good for 20th. Mykeal Okwudibonye recorded a personal best in the same event with a time of 24.96 while Nicholas Branco did the same with a time of 26.17. Joshua Akinsolu finished 20th in the 400m, clocking a time of 55.09 before Branco recorded another personal best with a time of 58.35.

Emmanuel Boone continued the trend of setting personal bests as he did just that in the 800m with a time of 2:04.24, good for 10th. Justin Lee finished close behind with a time of 2:11.09. Vincenzo Marinaro grabbed 16th in the mile after clocking a time of 5:08.38. Adam Abushanab would finish 4th in the 5000m run with a time of 15:22.47 to break the school record. 

Hartley's record setting jump was a height of 2.01m which was good for first place. Alexander Kuzmitch participated in the pole vault, a first for Rutgers-Newark, and recorded a height of 3.50m. Amilcar's first place triple jump was recorded at a distance of 13.97m. 

Hunter Eldrige placed 17th in the shot put with a distance of 11.20m while Samuel Rosas finished 18th with a throw of 11.12m. Dylan Woods-Tomczak  topped the Scarlet Raiders with a toss of 12.16m, good for 13th. Following him up was Sean Deuer with a distance of 11.94m with Marcus Hinds close behind with a throw of 10.56m.
