Women's Track & Field Takes 7th at NJAC Championships

STATEN ISLAND, NY | The Rutgers University-Newark women's track & field team competed at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships held at Ocean Breeze.

Chidimma Igwe ran in the 200m dash and tallied a time of 8.17, good for 12th. She returned to the track for the 400m dash where she took 8th with a time of 1:01.59 while Carmelle Alexis finished 1:06.06. In the 200m dash, Sara Jaquez recorded a personal record of 32.70 with Taylor Ricks following suit with a time of 33.52.

Brooke Bachia was another Scarlet Raider to set a personal record this evening. Bachia set a personal best in the 800m with a time of 2:53.55 while Yumna Elsherif did the same with a time of 3:48.78. Pearl Oparebea took 4th in the 60m hurdles and was followed up by Brya Byrd who set a personal record with a time of 9.91.

Faith Remias placed 10th in the shot put with a toss of 10.12m and then took 7th in the weight throw with a hurl of 13.52m.
