Zaleck Named AVCA First Team All-American

LEXINGTON, KY | For the fourth straight season, Andrew Zaleck of the Rutgers-Newark men's volleyball squad, has been named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American.

This is the second straight season he has been named to the first team after starting on the second team for the first two years of his career. Zaleck is the first Rutgers-Newark men's volleyball student-athlete to accomplish many feats this season including being named to four straight AVCA All-American lists. Zaleck also crossed the 1,000-kill threshold as well as setting the Rutgers-Newark school record for kills in a season with 360. In his senior campaign, Zaleck finished 3rd in the nation with 4.56 kills per set and 4th in the nation in points per set with 5.28.

Zaleck collected many awards this season including Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) Player of the Year, for the second consecutive year, and for the first time in CVC history. He was the offensive catalyst for the Scarlet Raiders all season long and had a career match in which he recorded 39 kills in a five-set thriller over #7 New Paltz which was the 4th highest kill tally in NCAA Division III history.

His playing career came to an end this season in the CVC Championship match where they fell in four sets to #3 Juniata after reaching the NCAA Quarterfinals just a season ago. Zaleck has rewritten the Scarlet Raiders' record books and has stamped his name in not only the Rutgers-Newark book but also the NCAA books as well.
