SALEM, VA | #14 Rutgers-Newark men's volleyball bounced back from a Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) loss last night with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-16) sweep of Roanoke to close out their regular season. The win bumped the Scarlet Raiders up to 13-7, 5-3 while Roanoke fell to 7-18, 0-7.

Martin Chromulak led the Scarlet Raiders with 10 kills while hitting a blistering .769. Justin Tuohy added seven kills while Derek Au tallied a team-high 25 assists. Defensively, Aidan Apito paced the team with 9 digs.

In the opening set, the Scarlet Raiders trailed 4-3 before using a 5-1 run to jump out to an 8-5 lead. Roanoke then cut the lead down to one, however, the Scarlet Raiders, behind two kills from Tuohy, went on an 11-2 run to extend their lead. Alex Boulin would take a pass from Au and land the final blow to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

The second set saw more back-and-forth action until kills by Tuohy, Jasjeet Singh and Daniel Quay each picked up a kill to put the Scarlet Raiders ahead by five. Rutgers-Newark would carry that five-point lead until the end of the set to go up 2-0 in the match.

Rutgers-Newark closed out the match with a 25-16 win in the third set. After flip flopping the score, the Scarlet Raiders took control with a 9-2 run to complete the sweep of Roanoke.
