Rutgers-Newark Women's Track & Field Places 6th at NJAC Championships

MAHWAH, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark women's track and field squad finished 6th at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships on Sunday afternoon.

Chidimma Igwe continued her solid showing at the NJAC Championships and finished 2nd in the 200m dash with a time of 24.60. Igwe also took 3rd in the 100m dash, registering a time of 12.13. Yumna Elsherif placed 18th for the Scarlet Raiders in the 800m after crossing the finish line in 3:43.20.

Carmelle Alexis and Brya Byrd raced in the 100m hurdles with Alexis finishing two spots ahead (5th) with a time of 16.23 while Byrd crossed in 16.38. Faith Remias competed in the shot put and recorded a distance of 10.45m, good for 14th.

Byrd, Igwe, Alexis and Sanaa Brodie ran as a quad in both the 4x100 and 4x400, claiming 4th in both with times of 49.10 and 4:04.34, respectively.
