Abushanab Paces Rutgers-Newark at NJAC Championships

STATEN ISLAND, NY | The Rutgers-Newark men's indoor track & field team finished 8th at the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship held at Ocean Breeze on Monday evening.

Nicholas Branco finished 22nd in the 60m dash with a time of 8.14. In the 200m, Diego Gomes tallied a time of 23.63 while Cedric Augustin came in with a time of 24.17. Christopher Williams clocked in at 53.77 in the 400m dash and followed up with a 15th place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:18.44.

In the mile, Daniel Cortez and Kanye Stevens recorded times of 5:18.99 and 5:20.75. Adam Abushanab ran the 2nd fastest time in program history in the 5000m with a time of 15:26.57, good for a 5th place finish.

Zachariah Muyingo placed 11th in the long jump with a mark of 6.19m. Hunter Eldrige took 18th in the shot put with a toss of 11.05m while Azor Chareyre threw 6.13m. Sean Deuer took the top spot for the Scarlet Raiders with a 14th place finish in the weight throw (11.74m).
