Martin Chromulak added seven kills while Derek Au paced the team with 35 assists. Lancaster Bible (4-11) was led by Jordan Yoder's 17 kills and Christian Herr's 31 assists.

Rutgers-Newark came out strong against the Chargers in the first set and hit .321 as a team with Chromulak pacing the way with his .750 hit percentage. Blanco broke the deadlock with a kill to put Rutgers-Newark ahead before Chromulak increased the lead with a service ace. Vincent Lopez pushed the Scarlet Raiders' lead out to 17-12 which set the Scarlet Raiders on the victory track as they would take that lead and go up 1-0 in the match.

The momentum for the Scarlet Raiders carried over to the second set where they swiftly took an 11-4 lead. Blocks by Aleks Kolodziej and Amir Johnson pushed the Scarlet Raiders ahead 15-4 over the Chargers. When the Chargers began to cut into the lead, Fernando Paredes set up Blanco for a kill to shut down Lancaster Bible's comeback. With a comfortable lead, the Scarlet Raiders cruised to a 2-0 lead.

The pendulum swung the other direction in the 3rd set as the Chargers took down the Scarlet Raiders 25-14. The set would level at 11 thanks to a service error before Lancaster Bible closed out the set with a 15-3 run as Rutgers-Newark's offense went stale.
