STATEN ISLAND, NY - The Rutgers-Newark men's indoor track & field team competed at the Ocean Breeze Track Facility for the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invite on Friday afternoon.
On the track, Isiah Marcellus sprinted to a time of 7.29 in the 60-meter dash, while teammate Shareek Prophet raced to a time of 7.33.
Marcellus, Abita, Prophet, and Afoakwah placed eighth in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:34.39.
Continuing with action on the track, Carlos Gonzales Delgado clocked a time of 10:30.10 in the 30,000 meters. Wascar Olivero raced to a time of 5:01.11 in the one mile run.
In the field events, Azor Chareyre registered a mark of 9.46 meters (31-0.50) in the shot put. Oscar Alvarez recorded a distance of 7.45 meters (24-5.25) in the event.
Zachariah Muyingo placed 10th in the long jump with a leap of 6.67 meters (21-10.50), which he registered on his third attempt of the day. Muyingo tallied a mark of 12.86 meters (42-2.25) in the triple jump on his second attempt and only mark in the event.
