Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men’s Volleyball Swept by Stevens

NEWARK, NJ | Despite positive play from Derek Au and Massimo Roco, the Scarlet Raiders couldn't sink the Ducks. The home team won by a score of 3-0 (25-9, 25-19, 25-22).

Stevens came out strong. They jumped ahead 3-8 in the first set. Massimo Roco found an ace to break their momentum, but they kept on rolling. In the blink of an eye, the Ducks had created a 24-7 lead that proved insurmountable. They easily took the first set.

Rutgers-Newark found a much more advantageous position in set number two. They led at 8-7, 11-9, and 13-11. However, Stevens put together a 13-5 run that left them one point away from a 2-0 set lead with a six point edge over their opponents. The hosts easily cashed in on that opportunity, putting the Scarlet Raiders in a very difficult position.

Rutgers-Newark was determined to come out of the game with something, but Stevens was relentless. The third set was unbelievably close, and neither team led by more than two points until Koby Sherman set the score at 23-20 in favor of Stevens. Roco found two more kills, but it wasn't enough to keep the Scarlet Raiders in it. The Ducks completed the 3-0 victory with a 25-22 score in the final set.

Men's volleyball will next compete on Friday, January 31st. They will host New Paltz at 7:00 PM right here in the Golden Dome.
