Roco Earns NJAC Men's Volleyball Weekly Rookie Honors

PITMAN, NJ - Rutgers-Newark standout freshman Massimo Roco was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Rookie of the Week after showing out in a 3-0 stretch for the Scarlet Raiders. In 12 sets of play, the Old Bridge, NJ native amassed 38 points (3.17/set), 27 kills (2.25/set), and 16 blocks. This included a double-double in a five set come from behind win against Elmira in which he collected 10 kills and 11 assists. Roco is an absolute force in the middle of the court for Rutgers-Newark - he currently leads the NJAC in hitting percentage (.408) and blocks (0.95/set). He is in for quite an outstanding career if he can keep up this pace.
