Scarlet Raiders Roll Past Lancaster Bible 3-0 at The Golden Dome

NEWARK, N.J. – Rutgers-Newark men's volleyball earned a straight-set victory over Lancaster Bible College, defeating the Chargers 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-23) on Wednesday evening at The Golden Dome.

The Scarlet Raiders came out strong in the first set, posting a .583 hitting percentage with 17 kills to take a 25-21 win and establish early momentum. The second set proved the most competitive of the match, with the score tied at 23 before a kill from Aleks Kolodziej and an attack error by Lancaster Bible allowed Rutgers-Newark to take the set 25-23. In the third set, Rutgers-Newark again held off a late push from the Chargers. Late miscues by Lancaster Bible helped the Scarlet Raiders close the frame 25-23 and complete the sweep.

Rutgers-Newark controlled the match offensively, finishing with 49 kills on a .416 hitting percentage while adding 45 assists and 30 digs as a team.

Michael Suarez led the Scarlet Raiders with 16 kills while hitting .464 on the night. Alex Solodky added 12 kills and a .381 hitting percentage, while Kolodziej contributed 10 kills on an efficient .474 clip.

Setter Duncan Sturt orchestrated the offense with 43 assists and defensively, Kaden Komine led the team with eight digs, while Kolodziej, Suarez, and Massimo Roco each added four digs. 

The win pushes the Scarlet Raiders to 13-4 as they continue their non-conference run next week against Lehman College.
