Mahwah, N.J. — Competition concluded at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships with several strong performances across both the men's and women's teams.
On the women's side, the Scarlet Raiders were led in the field events by Shanil Auguste, who earned a second-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 12.53 meters. Fejiro Akiri followed with a third-place finish in the event at 12.06 meters, while Christine Pierre-Louis added a ninth-place mark of 10.80 meters.
Akiri also competed in the discus throw, placing 18th overall with a mark of 29.61 meters.
For the men, Azor Chareyre highlighted the day with a fourth-place finish in the discus throw (41.11 meters) and added a 17th-place finish in the shot put (10.65 meters).
On the track, Kyle Rolffot placed 13th in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:23.69, while Daniel Cortez finished 16th in the same event (4:26.35) and later added a 19th-place finish in the 800-meter run (2:05.76).
As a team, the Rutgers-Newark men finished ninth overall with six points, while the women placed seventh with 25 total points.
