Biography

SENIOR (2013): Appeared in 38 games with 37 starting assignments as an outfielder… had seven appearances as a pitcher… hit .239 with 33 hits, 14 runs scored and nine RBIs… stroked seven doubles to post a .290 slugging percentage… walked 12 times to finish with a .305 on-base percentage... went two for two with two RBIs and a double in a 13-7 loss to DeSales University (4/02/13)… went two for four with an RBI, two runs scored and a double 16-7 loss to Richard Stockton (4/20/13)… had a 1-2 record with one save while posting a 3.55 ERA in 12.2 innings of work… struck out 10, walked four and gave up only five earned run on 13 hits.

JUNIOR (2012): Posted a record of 3-6 with an 8.06 ERA while starting in six of the 15 games in which he appeared… struck out 31 while issuing 19 walks in 44-2/3 innings of work… scattered three hits while striking out six and walking two in seven innings to get the win in a 5-3 decision over Occidental (3/11/12)… went eight innings, striking out four and walking no one against seven hits in a 7-4 win over Whittier (3/18/12).

SOPHOMORE (2011):  Set R-N single season records for saves in a season with seven (with the last four coming in NJAC play) and lowest opponent batting average (.172)… second team All-NJCBA D-II/III closer for the 23-19 Scarlet Raiders who shared the ECAC Metro Championship… led R-N squad with a 1.71 ERA which was the fourth lowest single in the R-N books… gave up 16 singles with no extra-base hits… posted a 2-1 record in 18 relief appearances… struck out 27 while walking just eight in 26-1/3 innings… allowed an earned run in just three of his 18 appearances… got a save in the first game and a win in the second game of an NJAC doubleheader sweep of TCNJ (4/9/11), giving up a run on one hit and a walk while striking out one in three innings for work… posted seventh save by striking out one against no hits or walks to close out a 2-1 win over Rowan (4/30/11)… got the win in an 8-7, 10-inning victory over Redlands (3/18/11) by yielding just one unearned run and four singles against three strikeouts in three innings of relief… gave up a hit while allowing no runs and no walks in the final 1-1/3 innings to save a 5-4 win over Montclair State (4/14/11)… faced the minimum number of batters in the ninth inning to save a 6-4 win over Ramapo (4/21/11).

FRESHMAN (2010): Moved from the outfield to the bullpen to take a major roll in the Raiders’ 22-21 season… third on the squad with a 4.24 ERA, posting a 2-2 record in 14 relief appearances… struck out 19 and walked 10 in 17 innings… gave up just one home run while limiting opponents to a .278 batting average… started in three of the nine games in which he played as an outfielder… his lone hit in 14 at bats was a solo home run in his first career at-bat in a 16-5 season-opening win over Mount St. Mary (3/3)… did not allow an earned run in 11 of his 14 appearances… struck out two and allowed no baserunner in his first 1-inning stint in a 10-3 loss to Keystone (3/31)… struck out two without a baserunner in a full inning of relief in a 12-4 win over Alvernia (4/13)… got the win in a 6-4 come-from-behind win over Rutgers-Camden (4/3) by striking out two while allowing one walk and no runs in two innings… blanked Richard Stockton (5/1) for two innings while yielding a hit and two walks to get the decision in an important 8-7 win… came on in relief in both games of a crucial doubleheader sweep of Kean (4/10), giving up one run on one hit while striking out two in a combined 2-2/3 innnings for work.

HIGH SCHOOL: Third-team All-Essex County and Honorable Mention All-Iron Hills Conference as a pitcher and outfielder as a senior at Livingston HS… helped Lancers to back-to-back Group 4, Section 1 semifinal playoff finishes… team went 17-10 his junior year and 21-5 during his senior campaign.

SUMMER LEAGUE: Has played with the Livingston Senior America Legion Post 201 team for the past two summers, helping squad to a cumulative record of 46-11… 2008 squad went 25-7, reaching the District 1 finals… in 2009, team went 21-4 and earned the Essex County championship.

PERSONAL: Majoring in business with a concentration in marketing at Rutgers-Newark… son of Maryann and Horace “Ace” Larangera… has one younger brother, Chase.
