PROFILE OF THE WEEK (March 10, 2010)
NOTES: Started in all 73 Raiders games played during her two seasons, posting an impressive .316 batting average with a .447 slugging percentage and a .390 on-base percentage… started at pitcher, third base, shortstop, catcher and in the outfield… earned Academic Achievement Award for the Fall 2009 semester.
SENIOR (2010): Capped sparkling two-year career in Scarlet & Black by leading the Raiders in hitting (.365), slugging percentage (.530), on-base percentage (.434), RBI (24), triples (5) and extra-base hits (12) while starting in all 38 games… received Coaches Award for unselfish dedication to team… tied for team lead with 42 hits… split time at catcher and in the outfield while also notching two starts each at shortstop and second base… hit safely in 23 games with a dozen multiple-high games… drove in a run in 12 games and scored in a dozen contests… belted a grand slam and drew three walks in a 13-0 win over Stevens (3/31)… went four for five with a pair of RBIs in a 9-8 win over Nichols College (3/13)… tripled twice and scored three times while going three for four in an 11-4 win over Old Westbury (4/14)… had a double, a triple and three RBIs while going three for four in a 6-4 loss to Utica (3/16)… went three for three with a triple and two runs scored in a 1-0 win over Brooklyn College (4/5).
JUNIOR (2009): Started in all 35 games as the Raiders top pitcher and outfielder… posted 3-15 record in 26 appearances with 45 strikeouts in 111 innings of work… also hit .240 with eight RBIs … hurled a 2-hit, 4-strikeout complete-game win over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (3/17/09)… notched a 5-inning, 1-hitter with a career-high 10 strikeouts in a 13-0 win over St. Elizabeth (4/9/09)… hurled all eight innings in a thrilling 13-12 win over St. Joseph’s LI (4/16/09)… at the plate, collected 18 hits including three doubles and a home run for a ..320 slugging percentage… drew six walks to finish with a .321 on-base percentage… tied for the team lead with 15 runs scored… went four for four with a double and four RBIs in an 8-6 loss to McDaniel (3/19/09) in the Rebel Spring Games in Florida… went three for five with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored in an NJAC doubleheader against New Jersey City (4/13/09)… opened a doubleheader against Ramapo (4/14/09) by going two for four with an RBI and a stolen base… went two for three with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in a loss to Utica (3/20/09) in Florida.
FRESHMAN & SOPHOMORE (2006 & 2007): Two-year letterwinner for NCAA Division I Rider University as a catcher and DP… started in 23 of the 27 games in which she played… totaled 14 runs, eight hits, six RBIs and seven walks for the Broncos… ripped a grand slam against Manhattan (4/28/07)… delivered a hit in each of her first two collegiate appearances.
HIGH SCHOOL: Three-year letterwinner for the Southgate Anderson… helped Titans to district championship in sophomore and junior seasons before leading squad to a regional championship in senior season… MVP during junior and senior seasons… all-state honorable mention, all-district, all-region nominee as a junior and senior… also lettered in volleyball as a junior… played for the Ann Arbor Gold club softball team from 2005-06… member of the National Honor Society.
PERSONAL: Majoring in Psychology at Rutgers-Newark… daughter of Christina and Marc Affholter… has an older sister, Ashley, and a younger one, Alexis… hopes to become a registered nurse… lists her grandfather as the person she admires most… chose R-N because of the reputation of its nursing program… enjoys the diverse environment of the Newark campus… favorite team is the Detroit Tigers… favorite athlete is NHL player Sidney Crosby.
