Rutgers-Newark Athletics

FRESHMAN (2010): Went 3-14 with a 7.04 ERA in 19 appearances as the Raiders’ No. 2 starter… named NJAC Softball Rookie Pitcher of the Week (3/28) after posting wins over Baruch (3/25) and Wells College (3/27)… had 13 complete games in 18 starts, hurling 105.1 innings… began her season with a 9-8 win over Nichols (3/13)… struck out five in a 3-2 win over Baruch (3/25)… struck out three in a 6-inning, 8-0 win over Wells (3/27).

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year standout at North Arlington HS as a pitcher and infielder under coach John Galente… first-team All-BCSL Group I as a senior infielder… second-team all-conference as a pitcher in both her sophomore and junior seasons… honorable mention all-conference for the Vikings as a freshman.

SUMMER LEAGUE: Played for the Clifton Cobras for five summers, starting with a year in the 12-U program and moving up… helped team to Lacey Tournament title in 2008.

PERSONAL: Has not declared a major field of study at Rutgers-Newark, but is interested in becoming an elementary school teacher… likes the Newark campus because it’s close to home and is just the right size… lists her parents, Carol and Glenn Veneziano, as the biggest influences on her life… her mother played softball at Montclair State… has a younger brother, Vincent… NY Yankees are her favorite team and Derek Jeter her favorite athlete.
