FAIRFAX, VA – Rutgers-Newark freshman outside hitter Marcin Midura had 10 kills, but he was the only Scarlet Raider to reach double figures in points as George Mason posted a 3-0 win in the GMU Field House. Set scores were 30-24, 30-24, 30-23.

The weary Raiders (6-6) could not stop the Patriot attack just 17 hours and a combined six hours of bus travel following their 3-2 marathon win at Sacred Heart on Friday evening. George Mason hit .354 for the match to the Rutgers-Newark's .200, and the Patriots ruled the net, coming up with 12.5 blocks to R-N's 2.0. 

Senior outside hitter Derek Wolfe had nine kills while handling 39 serves with just one error while junior middle hitter Kenneth Stumbaugh capped a torrid two-day run by pounding down five kills on just six swings without an attack error. Stumbaugh got on in a block and delivered the Raiders' only ace in the match. 

Junior middle hitter Jon Keller added five kills and an assisted block while sophomore setter Liran Shapiro registered 36 assists and tied freshman Caden Mulligan for team honors with four digs. Rutgers-Newark came up with just 20 digs against the Patriots. 

Ben Nichols led George Mason with 17 kills on .300 hitting while Kyle Gramit hit .367 with 11 kills and four services aces. Luke Maloney also had four aces as the Patriots chalked up nine aces. Setter Brandon Joyner got in on a match-high six blocks while posting 39 assists. 

George Mason led wire-to-wire in the match. 

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for second-year head coach Karl France's young team which travels to Harvard on Friday for an EIVA Hay match. The Raiders lead the division with a 4-0 record.
