NEW YORK – Junior outside hitter
Nate Stott tallied a team-high 19.5 points, totaling 16 kills, a match-high three service aces and an assisted block, to pace Rutgers-Newark to a 3-0 win over NYU in the Coles Sports Center. Set scores were 30-28, 30-27, 30-27.

Stott hit a crisp .591 (16-3-22) as the Scarlet Raiders (7-6, EIVA Hay 5-1) completed a regular-season series sweep over the Violets (3-14, EIVA Hay 2-2) to stay in command of the divisional race.
Senior right side
Kenny Rienecker added a dozen kills, an ace and two assisted blocks while sophomore setter
Liran Shapiro piled up 43 assists and two aces.
Freshman libero
Caden Mulligan and senior outside hitter
Derek Wolfe had six digs apiece with Wolfe adding nine kills, a solo block and two assisted blocks for 11.0 points.
Middle hitters
Jon Keller and
Kenneth Stumbaugh each got in on two blocks with Keller adding five kills and a pair of aces. Stumbaugh hammered down four kills on just eight swings with one error.
NYU got match-highs of 17 kills and 20.0 points from
Devin Zolnowski and 11 kills and an ace from
Michael Ferragonio.
In set one, the Raiders led from the early points but could never get separation from NYU. A Stott kill gave Rutgers-Newark a 29-27 lead before a Zolnowski kill set up the frame settling service error by the Violets.
In the second frame, Keller roped two aces and a kill during a decisive 5-0 run which staked the Raiders to a 13-9 lead. A Shapiro kill put Rutgers-Newark up 24-17.
A Zolnowski kill gave the Violets a 19-18 lead in the third set before a kill by Stott and an ace by Shapiro wrapped around an NYU attack error put the Raiders up for good at 21-19.
Rutgers-Newark hosts Ball State and Ohio State in The Golden Dome on March 20 and 21 -- respectiveley. Each match starts at 7 p.m.
