NEWARK, NJ – Sophomore centerfielder
Jessica Zelaya paced an explosive Scarlet Raider attack, finishing two-for-four with five RBIs and four runs scored, as Rutgers-Newark swept the College of St. Elizabeth, 13-0 and 12-4, in a non-conference doubleheader at Alumni Field.

Game One
The Scarlet Raiders got things started early in the first game of the twinbill with a nine run, six hit first inning. Zelaya, who advanced to second after a sacrifice bunt by sophomore second baseman
Emily Ibarra, scored the game's first run off a Davis double to center.
Following an Aita single through the left side, Weer blasted a one-out double to left, plating Davis and Ibarra, giving the Scarlet Raiders a three run advantage.

Courtney Breauxsaus kept the Scarlet Raiders' streak going with a bases clearing triple to left field, scoring Angeli and junior transfer
Amber Affholter.
The Scarlet Raiders would increase the Eagles' deficit to eight on a Zelaya sacrifice to center, scoring Breauxsaus, before rounding out the scoring with a Davis RBI single through the left side.
Rutgers-Newark would tack on three more runs in the bottom on the second on an Affholter single up the middle, a Zelaya double to left and an Ibarra single, before scoring the game's final run in the bottom of the fourth on a Zelaya double to right center.
Affholter recorded her first complete game shutout in the win, striking out a career-high 10 batters en route to her second victory of the season.

Patricia Yagecic collected the Eagles' lone hit in game one, with a double in the top of the third.
Game Two
The surging Scarlet Raiders would follow-up an impressive showing in the first game of the doubleheader with an equally impressive outing in the nightcap, racing to a 10 run lead in the first inning.
Zelaya, who led off with a single before stealing second and advancing to third on a passed ball, scored the game's first run on a wild pitch. Ibarra would tally the Scarlet Raiders second run on a wild pitch with the bases loaded, before Aita crossed the plate on a wild pitch to continue the trend, while giving Rutgers-Newark a 3-0 lead.
After Weer scored on a fielding error, junior
Tania Cintron collected her first career hit and RBI with a single to left scoring Renteria. Zelaya would increase the Scarlet Raider advantage with a two RBI single to left before Aita smashed a two-out bases clearing double down the line, with the bases loaded, to push the lead to 10.
Aita would collect her fourth RBI of the contest with a single to left in the third, while Davis rounded out the scoring with her first career roundtripper in the bottom of the fifth.
Junior
Stacy Cappiello earned her first win of the season, allowing just one earned run while striking out five in five innings of work.

Aida Quintana led the Eagles offensively, going two-for-two with an RBI, while junior catcher
Alyssa Kirby went one for two with an RBI.
