NEWARK, NJ – Freshman top-flight player
Bushra Memon was the only Rutgers-Newark player to take a singles match as Kean University downed the Scarlet Raiders, 6-3, on The Golden Dome Courts.

In the final New Jersey Athletic Conference match of the season for the Raiders (3-5, NJAC 1-4), Rutgers-Newark could not take advantage of a 2-1 lead forged in doubles play against the Cougars (6-2, NJAC 1-2).
Memon rolled past Lisette LaForge, 6-1, 6-0 in singles to win her fifth straight match and push her overall record to 6-2. The probable NJAC Rookie of the Year went 4-1 in league play, falling only to TCNJ's Karisse Bendijo in the first match of the season.

Ashley Lawrence and rookie
Michelle Kvitnitsky battled past Lauren Petrucelli and Jaelynn Lee, 8-6, on the second flight to give the Raiders the early advantage.
Raider freshman
Dhaneya Kumar took the opening set of her fifth flight singles match 6-1 over Jessica Oquendo before falling 6-1, 6-1 in the deciding frames. Kean took the other four singles contests in straight sets.
Rutgers-Newark is slated to play Western Connecticut on The Golden Dome Courts on Thursday at 4 p.m.
