NEWARK, NJ – Rutgers-Newark suffered a heartbreaking loss in the opener but saw an outstanding rookie performance in the second game of a season-ending doubleheader loss to Richard Stockton on Alumni Field.

IN GAME ONE, the Ospreys scored three runs with two outs in the top of the seventh to stun the Raiders. A ground ball just inside the third base bag by second baseman Danielle Kohen brought home two runs to tie the score before a pinch-hit single to by Stephanie Darrow plated the winning run.
Sophomore third baseman-catcher
Monica Liotto, who went three for four, had an RBI single and scored in the Raiders' three-run third inning and their two run sixth.
Sophomore first baseman
Monica Bagan capped the third inning rally with a two-run single down the leftfield line. She also singled and scored on a single by freshman designated player
AJ Affholter to give Rutgers-Newark a 5-3 lead in the sixth.
Sophomore leftfielder
Nicole Odell went two for three as the Raiders matched the Ospreys with 10 hits.
IN GAME TWO, freshman shortstop
Carrie Wan went four for four, but Stockton freshman Michelle Pietrocola scattered nine hits while striking out six and walking two to shut down the Raider attack.
Wan manufactured the Raiders' lone run in the third. She beat out an infield single, stole second, moved to third on an infield grounder and score on an infield error.
