CAMDEN, NJ-The Scarlet Raiders started off their New Jersey Athletic Conference season on a high note as they swept Rutgers-Camden in the Scarlet Raptors' reintroduction as a varsity program.

Bushra Memon and junior
Ashley Lawrence posted 6-0, 6-0 sweeps on the top two singles flights as the Scarlet Raiders (2-0, NJAC 1-0) posted their second straight shutout victory in as many starts. Memon, the 2010 NJAC Rookie of the Year, and Lawrence have yet to drop a game in singles competition this season.
Freshman
Camille Sunga and Memon teamed for an 8-1 victory on the top flight doubles court.
It had been 24 years since the Raptors (0-1, NJAC 0-1) last fielded a women's tennis team at the varsity level.
The Raiders will host Ramapo College on Tuesday night at 5 p.m. on The Golden Dome Courts.
