R-N Results At 2012 Gotham Cup

Armstrong shaved over seven seconds off the Scarlet Raider mark in the 1000 with a time of 2:40.64 to finish 37th in a highly-competitive field of 55.  He erased DaQuan Bashir's 2:48.06 record set in the Metro Coaches Invitational on the same track on January 7, 2011.

Competing in his first collegiate meet, Almeida got off a best effort of 11.91 meters to finish 13th among 30 competitors and eclipse R-N mark of 11.69 meters set by classmate Nick DeRosa in the CTC Relays on December 4.  DeRosa had a best throw of 11.55 meters today.

In the 60-meter dash, freshman Dennis Willis, Jr. ran a 7.31-second time while junior Kevon Brown clocked a 7.43 to finish just ahead of rookie Mustafa Lawrence (7.47).  The Raider trio finished 51st, 68th and 70th in a field of 90.

In the 400-meter dash, freshman Donnie House clocked a 51.27-second time to finish 32nd in a field of 90 runners and top a trio of Raider runners.  Armstrong (53.80) and freshman Michael Agyei (54.43) also competed.

Senior Vladimir Manasse ran a 4:53.36 mile and a 2:11.91 800-meters.

In the 4 x 400-meter relay, House, Manasse, Agyei and Armstrong clocked a 3:30.94 to finish 17th among 29 teams.

Brown collided with the fourth hurdle and did not finish his specialty – the 60-meter hurdles.

Rutgers-Newark will compete in the Collegeville Classic at Ursinus College on Friday.
